AXPONA 2020 Postponed

Organizers of North America’s largest audio show have today announced that AXPONA 2020, which was originally scheduled for April 17–19 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in Chicago, will be postponed to August 7-9, 2020.

According to fellow Stereophile Group scribe Jason Victor Serinus, who spoke with Joel Davis – founder and CEO of AXPONA sponsor JDEvents – the date change came about “out of concern for the health and safety of all participants due to the growing coronavirus situation. This decision was made following an outpouring of feedback from the AXPONA community over the last 72 hours . . .. We rescheduled out of an abundance of caution during this unpredictable time. . . . We will contact all exhibitors and attendees directly later this week as we work through the details of the move.”

Davis went on to tell Serinus that the decision was based on feedback and input from “hundreds of customers, including conversations, emails, and texts, in addition to our own best assessment of the situation and what will ultimately be in the best interest of the industry.”

Davis said in a memo on Monday that "The three most consistent themes we heard were, 1) fears of attending public events will increase in March and April, 2) AXPONA should still be held in 2020, and 3) reschedule later this year if possible."

According to Davis the organizers have only this one window of opportunity to change the dates to, so that was what they decided to go with, adding that “It’s not easy to find an open week at any venue given [that] we use almost the entire venue and we need 5-6 days total to produce the event.”

Check back in the future for other updates on AXPONA and other shows that may be affected by the current Coronavirus health-safety situation.
