Back in the '70s, a new friend and I were talking about music and I mentioned I played guitar (he did too), liked Jimi Hendrix, Miles, and so on and he responded, "Gateway" with an almost dreamy look in his eye. When he noticed my quizical expression, he said, "Gateway!" as if I hadn't heard him and we all know that in these instances all one need do is raise your voice. Still no reaction from me.

I get angry. I admit it. Two of the things that anger me are injustice and cruelty. I cannot abide either. So I trust you can imagine that this week had my blood boiling with outrage over the needless senseless injustice and cruelty on display in this fine country of ours. If I didn’t know any better, I’d believe this is all a nightmare that will be over with the sunrise.

Lately I've been selling old things, buying new old things, and organizing the barn. This happens to be some of my favorite things to do. In so doing, I need appropriate music for the doing process as well as the aftermath. The peaceful part.

Back in the '80s, Joe (Surdna) and I would make the shortish downhill trip from Bennington, VT to Williamstown, MA and Toonerville Trolley Records where we would discover new things.

We were listening to my gold vinyl limited edition copy of The Heliocentrics A World Of Masks at a Monkeyhaus recently and I was thinking, "Damn. This is one fine record. I wish I had more records like this." That thought didn't stay in the forefront for long and I went about my day-to-days. Then, just the other day, I was rummaging around my digital music collection and tapped "Play Now" on Massive Attack's Mezzanine and within a few seconds thought, "Damn! Here's one."

It's motivational poetry with a message I wholeheartedly endorse (from "Intro"):
I don't give a fuck what you do, just do whatever.
Don't fucking make excuses just do what you know how to do
and don't fucking make excuses, just do it.

I searched high and low for the album of music from the films of Jacques Tati that had the most music from his films. This search took me to France, of course it did, and to Tati Sonorama ! which is 39 tracks and 01:19:25 of bubbles.

Iona Fortune's Tao Of I, released on Optimo Music last month, is the first in a series of eight releases exploring the symbols of the I Ching, the oldest Chinese divination text (the core text dates somewhere between the 10th and 4th centuries BC) and still heavyweight champion.

I had a dream that I lived in a world where I could listen to darn near any music of my choosing, watch darn near any movie I wanted, buy things from darn near anywhere in the world and look at darn near any art all without ever leaving my Aeron Chair.
