Like I said, blame Stephen. Aldous Harding's Party, released on 4AD in May of this year, is perfect.

Nothin' Bugs Me

To my way of thinking, if you want a DAC that offers USB, Optical, and Bluetooth inputs and you want it to sound good without deciding between it and a car, I have news for you.

This is an article about a USB accessory. Just thought you should know. If you're looking for writing that illuminates the social and political forces that brought us to this particular moment in our culture, allow me to suggest Hannah Arendt's Eichmann in Jerusalem.

What exactly is a ghost record? It’s a recording that remains elusive and has perhaps taken on an outsized place in your archivist’s brain. It’s the lost record that you’ve forgotten the name of and, perhaps searched for over the years to no avail. This is not any ordinary album that can be easily searched for on Google, cross-referenced and or found with easy emails and answers from forum posts. I think every music lover has a ghost record in their life and memory, a record that they heard once at someone’s house, maybe when they were stoned, or once owned but then lost in a basement flood or gave away, an album they can still hear in their head but somehow it’s slipped through the cracks and gone down the wormhole of memory.

This is a list of albums in my collection that I like to listen in their entirety. I call it 'Whole Albums Worth Listening To”. There's not a clinker in the bunch of songs of each. When I first discovered each of these I played them over and over for months, and after years and years I still go back and listen. So sit back, queue 'em up and enjoy over 8 hours of good tunes.

The older we get, the more distance lies between us and what it's like to be young. Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking that this distance represents a linear progression; a slow steady march towards wisdom. As George Gershwin said, it ain't necessarily so.

I always enjoy the Zu Audio room because they play real music and always get good sound (they use turntables as source). Their Omen Dirty Weekend [Mk.II] speakers (the smaller ones) are $999/pair (that's less than a thousand dollars)

Sometimes my focus on all things digital feels, well, incomplete. After all, you cannot make music with Computer Audio; you need other stuff. So show coverage covering just file-based playback is. . . limited. So to speak. And let's clarify something—show coverage is not a review. I've seen product endorsement adverts quoting show coverage and thought to myself, "That's a reach."

Just between you & me, the main reason I wanted to attend the Capital Audiofest was to hear this panel. "What does this have to do with computer audio?" I heard someone think. It has everything to do with computer audio.
