I've been an audio fool for close to twenty years now, and I gravitate to SET's and high efficiency speaker systems. Currently I am using a rebuilt Lenco table, a Schiit Gungnir DAC, Shindo Masseto preamp, and Shindo Cortese amp. I am between speakers, but looking for the perfect pair.

Glass comes very close to the embodiment of a perfect record. Recorded live, in situ, at Philip Johnson’s Glass House in Connecticut, Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto turned Johnson's people who live in glass houses into their instrument:
"...the pair fixed contact mics to its glass walls, which they effectively played as an “instrument”, rubbing it with rubber gong mallets to generate delicate tones which they combined with a sympathetic palette of singing glass bowls, crotales, keyboards and mixers."

I first reviewed a totaldac, the d1-Dual DAC, in September of 2014 wherein I said, "...you end up with a presentation that sounds so natural, so life-like, it leads you directly to the music being played with very little reminder that you are in fact listening through a hi-fi." In 2016, I gathered up the funds to buy a totaldac d1-six. Here's what I said about that, "...I am meaningfully delighted, over and over again." As we all know seven is bigger than six, which leads me to believe the d1-seven...

The Empirical Audio Overdrive SX Ethernet DAC/Pre represents Steve Nugent's most current thinking on DAC design. Steve, chief designer and owner of Empirical Audio, has been building Empirical Audio DACs since 2009. His engineering background and experience in digital design have served him well having come up with many original creations and unique approaches in DAC design. The Overdrive SX builds on the basic design of his Overdrive SE, a DAC I reviewed for AudioStream back in 2014.

Meg Remy is a great driver. She’s not a New Yorker, but she navigates these busy city streets as though they are her own. She seems born to accelerate, weave, brake, and reverse. You can hear it in her music, too. It offers surprises at almost every beat and turn, shuffles and slides before it sparks and burns. Her upcoming release, In a Poem Unlimited, available Friday, is her sixth studio album as U.S. Girls, and second for the outstanding label 4AD.

Picking which albums to recommend was too difficult, so I made it easier for myself by thinking in terms of categories. I love electric guitar, so I started there, and then considered recommendable albums that also might be less well known.

Xylouris White is Cretan lute player/vocalist George Xylouris and Australian drummer Jim White. Mother, released on Bella Union on January 19, 2018, is their third album of a series:
Xylouris says, "Mother is the extension of Ghosts and Black Peak. Three things, all part of a whole. Goats are mothers, Zeus was raised on Amaltheia's milk, Black Peak is Mother's Earth... Mother Earth is the mother of everything."

This is a follow-up to my dCS Rossini DAC ($23,999) review to explore new features delivered as a firmware update including MQA decoding.

I asked Bob Stuart, Creator of MQA, this very question when I reviewed MQA in May 2016. Here's Bob's answer:
"MQA manages no rights, extends or embodies no rights, has no tracing or user information (unlike UITS). There is no management system."
I spoke to Bob Stuart earlier today about this subject, something none of the people cooking up conspiracy theories seem inclined to do, and here's what he said:

Eleven songs and 38 minutes make up the eponymous playful and prickly debut LP from British/Icelandic trio Dream Wife.
